Sword & Shield: Vivid Portrayals (Chinese: & 盾 浓墨重彩 Sword & Shield Vivid Portrayals) is the name given to the second Simplified Chinese Pokémon Trading Card Game set in the Sword and Shield Era, and fourth overall set.

The set was released on August 18, 2023 and consists of 2 subsets: Obsidian (Chinese: 黎) and Indigo (Chinese: ), with each subset covering specific types of Pokémon cards. The Obsidian subset was assigned expansion mark CS2a, has Gigantamax Charizard as its cover Pokémon, and features Grass, Fire, Fighting and Metal Pokémon. The Indigo subset was assigned expansion mark CS2b, has Eternatus as its cover Pokémon, and features Water, Lightning, Psychic and Darkness Pokémon.

As with all other Asian-exclusive sets, Vivid Portrayals contains a large selection of cards in an effort to catch up with Japanese and international releases. However, this set also includes Reverse Type Holofoil prints of all Common, Uncommon and Rare cards, which are exclusive to Simplified Chinese sets. Another feature exclusive to the Simplified Chinese cards is that all Holofoil cards including Reverse Holofoil have an English Pokémon logo embossed at the bottom left corner of the card under Expansion and Regulation Marks as proof of authenticity.[1] Secret cards feature an additional watermark with larger Pokémon logo and a latent image of Poké Ball, which is printed inside the card's rule box or on the right of the rarity symbol if the card doesn't have a rule box.

This set comes in two different types of packs:

5-card booster packs include 5 cards per pack with one card guaranteed to be either Reverse Holofoil or has a rarity of Rare or above. Each 5-card booster box includes 30 booster packs.

25-card "Jumbo" booster packs include 25 cards per pack with one guaranteed Pokémon V card. Each 25-card booster box includes 24 booster packs.

Cover Pokémon: Infinity VMAX

Fear is coming and feel the power of infinite giantization!

Wujitai's VMAX is coming!

As a legendary Pokémon in the [Sword & Shield] series, VMAX injects an unprecedented unique mechanism into the battle. The characteristic [Promise Field] allows you to exceed the upper limit of the number of Pokémon that can be placed in your preparation area, and you can place up to 8 evil-type Pokémon! Bring your evil-attributed friends to give your opponents a "tremendous" shock.

The move [End of Fear] can increase the damage according to the number of evil-type Pokémon on the field, and can cause up to 30x9=270 points of damage. However, such a high-damage move only requires 1 evil-type energy and one non-type energy. Can be used. In the early stage, try to put as many as 8 Pokémon in the preparation area, and then use [Final Fear] to end the opponent. Make full use of the unique mechanism of VMAX in Promise, and create a winning deck of your own.

Recommended combinations in the supplement pack [Dense Indigo]: Ancient Moon Bird + Spiny Barracuda + Lulina

The Ancient Moon Bird included in the supplement pack [Dense Indigo] is a very interesting card. It can increase the damage of its move [Continuous Missiles] by placing the Barracuda in its preparation area into the discard zone. As a basic Pokémon, Ancient Moon Bird only needs 2 non-attribute energy to cause exaggerated damage of up to 240 points. Use [continuous missiles] to "pierce" everything on the battlefield!

The Barracuda can rely on the move [Swarming] to quickly gather in the preparation area to increase the damage of the Ancient Moon Bird. You can also use the supporter card Lulina to recycle the Barracuda in the discard zone into your hand, providing a steady stream of "missiles" for the Ancient Moon Bird. This combination is unpretentious but full of fun.

Cards that have never appeared before appear:

The supplement pack [Dense Indigo] also includes a new rarity that has never appeared in the Simplified and Chinese versions - "Fantasy (A) rarity". They all have special illustrations and craftsmanship, and "require multiple different attribute energies to activate." "Unique fantasy moves", whether used in battle or collected, they are uniquely charming.

The above fantasy rarity cards are all included in the booster pack [Indigo]
